A sheet of Quartered Walnut veneer

Quartering walnut trades the cathedral figure for a straight, even stripe. Slicing roughly along the radius holds the growth rings close to perpendicular to the face, so the grain runs consistently down the leaf and consecutive sheets sit together far more quietly than plain-sliced walnut does.

Walnut also carries more natural color range than almost anything else we sell — heartwood from chocolate to purple-brown, and pale sapwood at the edges of the log. How much sapwood is acceptable is a grading decision, and it is worth stating on the drawing rather than leaving to assumption. Tell us what you will accept and we will grade to it.

Supplied in sequence from a single flitch, raw or laid up as two-ply, paper-backed, or pressed to architectural panels. For a run that has to look continuous, order the full quantity at once — coming back later means a different log.
