Figured Anigre Veneer
Anigre with a broader, more varied figure across a creamy gold ground — an even, luminous surface.
Figured anigre is the same East African Pouteria as the curly grade, cut to show a broader and more varied figure across a creamy gold ground — mottle, block figure and a wandering curl rather than the fine even ripple. The result is a luminous, softly patterned surface that stays light in a room.
It is specified heavily in hospitality and healthcare work for exactly that reason: it reads as figured and expensive without going dark, and it takes a clear finish without muddying. If a drawing calls for "light figured veneer" with nothing more specific, this is usually what is meant.
The caution is the same as for any anigre: the species runs from cream to warm gold with the occasional greenish log, and it ambers under light over the first year. Order the whole job at once and we will hold it in sequence from one flitch rather than matching across two. Available raw, two-ply, paper-backed, and pressed to panel.
