Teak Veneer

Golden-brown teak with its characteristic oily luster — the enduring choice for mid-century and marine-influenced interiors.

Teak — Tectona grandis — is the timber the rest are compared to: golden-brown, dimensionally stable, and carrying a natural oil that gives it a soft luster no finish reproduces. It built the mid-century interior and it still built the boat, and it is specified today for much the same reasons.

That oil is also the thing to plan for. Teak is naturally oily and carries silica, which means adhesives and finishes need to be chosen for it rather than assumed — a solvent wipe before finishing is standard practice, and a finisher who has not worked teak before should be told in advance. It is not difficult material; it is material with a specific procedure.

Origin matters too. Teak comes from plantations across Southeast Asia, Africa and Central America as well as from natural forest, and the documentation that travels with it differs accordingly. If your specification or your client requires a particular provenance, say so at order and we will tell you what we can supply against it. Available raw, two-ply, paper-backed, and pressed to panel.
